UNDEF Project: Engaging Civil Society and Youth in Public Policy Dialogue in North Africa
Engaging Civil Society and Youth in Public Policy Dialogue in North Africa is a project funded by The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and implemented by the Moroccan Center for Civic Education. The purpose of this project is to support the engagement of youth and civil society in public policy dialogue in Libya, Tunisia and Morocco. It works through more than 200 local public policy programs, training trainers and producing learning materials and support for local level programs using the highly successful Project Citizen curriculum to engage NGOs and youth in public policy issues and enable them to participate in informed policy dialogue with policy makers, community members. Participants will become knowledgeable and effective advocates capable of informing others and convincing local authorities to adopt their concerns. Local, national and regional conferences will be held to showcase the best public policy proposals.
The initiative has created a regional network of policy advocates, and used social media tools to share information and project ideas throughout North Africa.
